Save the Tax Date(s)

March 6th, 2013

save tax dates blog post

The year is flying by – it’s already March! Spring is nearly here which also means tax season is upon us. For this month’s Blog Posts I want to set you up for a stress-free tax season. The first step in doing so is being aware of your tax calendar.

If you own your own business, in those first couple of years you learn so much. An invaluable piece of advice is this: there are a lot of sensitive year-end dates that can be expensive if missed. To avoid unnecessary tax stress you must know what dates are important for your business.

The good news is you can simply ask your accountant to create a list for you and then input the dates into your calendar as annual reoccurring events. However, in your operations manual you’ll want to have a consolidated list so that you always know at any time of year what is happening next.

An example: my year-end is January 31st, so I know that meeting with my bookkeeper mid-February ensures I complete my payroll by the end of February.

What very important tax dates will you be sure to never forget? Do you have a preferred system for keeping track of dates? Feel free to share in the comments below or on our Facebook page!
