Confessions of a Professional Organizer

June 7th, 2014

After a long wonderful day of organizing my beloved client’s spaces, I arrive home, exhausted but content. Until I open the door.

It’s a little bit frightening.

My kitchen looks like a bomb went off. When are they going to design a self-loading dish washer?

My bedroom floor is carpeted with everything I wore this week.

My bathroom; should we even get into this? You guessed it – I can’t even see the counter top!

Do I dare tell you that the full garbage has filled the air with a smell I can’t even properly describe? Or, have I now gone too far and you think my business is all a façade… 😀

Well, the truth is that completely organized people have messy lives too. We have houses that don’t pick-up after themselves and a To Do list that is 2-sided.

However, there is one key difference between an organized home and a disorganized home. I have a system where I have a home for everything I own. Remember those PEEP Blog Posts? PEEP: a place for everything and everything in its place. I teach that because I live that.

If every single item you own has a home and/or system, it’s much easier to get things back on track. Items go back to where they belong and with a little time and elbow grease my home is back in shape.

Look around the room you’re sitting in right now – what can you assign a home to today?
