An Open vs Shut Case

October 18th, 2014

The month of containing clutter continues!

Last week we touched on clear vs. coloured containers and this Blog Post will zoom in on the next important detail when considering a container.

Should you buy an open container or containers with lids?

I’m sure if you had the chance to tour a professional organizer’s home you would find their things placed inside containers with lids.

In my experience, closed containers are loved by people who prefer order, lists and routines. With a closed lid on their containers they keep their items carefully collated and encased.

But that doesn’t mean open containers are “bad.”

Open containers are more appealing to very busy households filled with creative types who are very visual. With no lids, items are easier to spot and grab. This ease also encourages younger family members to store and clean up toys more diligently.

What kind of containers would work best in your home?
